Mannone, thrust into the starting XI for this busy festive season, acquitted himself well today. Benteke's goal saw him float unmarked through the Black Cats' back line while Mannone did well to keep the deficit at just one at the end of the match. Throughout the match, Mannone was strong and named "man of the match" by the broadcast even in a losing effort. He's done more than enough to keep the job over the struggling Costel Pantilimon.
