Pep Guardiola's trophy-laden 10-year spell at Manchester City is coming to an end.

The Spanish tactician is set to leave the club at the end of the season, sources told David Ornstein and Sam Lee of The Athletic.

Former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is expected to replace Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium, Ornstein and Lee report.

Guardiola has led Manchester City to 17 major trophies - 20 overall - since arriving at the club in 2016. He could yet add another Premier League title to this season's League Cup and FA Cup triumphs if City are able to overtake leaders Arsenal in the final matches of the campaign.

Guardiola's side closes out the season against Bournemouth and Aston Villa but needs the Gunners to drop points to win another league title.

Manchester City have captured six Premier League crowns and their first Champions League title under the Catalan. The latter came in 2023, when City joined rivals Manchester United as the only English teams in history to win the treble.

Guardiola's contract runs until 2027.

The club retained hope that the revered 55-year-old coach would remain at the helm through next season, but work toward his exit has already begun, and members of the staff understand that he will leave this summer, reports Sami Mokbel of BBC Sport.

Guardiola has been coy about his future in recent months despite rampant speculation that he would leave after the longest sustained coaching spell of his career at a single club. He previously spent four years leading Barcelona and then three years at Bayern Munich before taking the City job.

When asked about his future plans prior to the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea this past weekend, he abruptly shut down questions, referencing the fact that he had one year remaining on his contract.

Maresca, only four months removed from being dismissed by Chelsea, has long been viewed as a likely successor to Guardiola.

The Italian previously worked at Manchester City, coaching the club's Under-21 team before becoming an assistant under Guardiola in 2022.
