Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has confirmed his intention to play for Spain.
The 24-year-old Brazilian born forward has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2013/14 Liga campaign, recording 10 goals in eight games.
Sky Sports reports Costa is finalizing the paperwork required to confirm his Spanish citizenship. He has spent his entire senior career in Europe, spending time in Portugal with Braga and then Spain.
"Spain has given me everything and if I can play for the national team I will do it as well as I can." Costa is expected to be called up when his paperwork is approved.
Brazil's FA will not file a complaint.
