Mesut Ozil would welcome a move to MLS when his time at Arsenal comes to an end, sources told ESPN's James Olley.
David Beckham's Inter Miami are among a number of teams reportedly interested in the German midfielder, including D.C. United and the LA Galaxy. He has also been linked with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Ozil is set to become a free agent in June, when his lucrative £350,000-per-week contract expires. But the Gunners, who've frozen the 32-year-old out of all matchday activities, could sell him in the January transfer window to recoup a fee.
Ozil is still hoping to play for Arsenal in the second half of the season, according to Olley. Despite falling out of favor at the Emirates, the playmaker is continuing to train and is making an effort to support Arsenal on social media. He even offered to pay the salary of Gunnersaurus, the beloved mascot who was initially laid off in an effort to cut costs.
Manager Mikel Arteta dropped Ozil from his official Premier League and Europa League squads in October, ruling him out of contention until at least January, when teams have a chance to update their rosters.
He last appeared in a 3-1 win over West Ham in March, just before the coronavirus pandemic forced the suspension of matches.
Ozil joined Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013 for a reported £42.5 million.
