It was an international break to forget for Liverpool after a handful of the team's stars picked up injuries while on international duty.

Mohamed Salah was the first to go down, but the Egyptian star appears poised to feature on Saturday against Huddersfield after taking part in the team's latest training session. Also practicing were James Milner and defender Virgil van Dijk, whose availability was unclear after the break following his early return from the Netherlands squad.

While the trio's participation on Thursday was a boost for Jurgen Klopp, the German manager was unwilling to disclose which players were in danger of missing Saturday's encounter, as the status of injured players such as Sadio Mane and Naby Keita remains unknown.

"One-and-a-half weeks ago everybody was quite happy or satisfied with the situation; one-and-a-half weeks later, we miss a few players. That’s the situation, we cannot change it," Klopp told Liverpool's website.

"At the end, there will be a really strong side wearing a Liverpool shirt going to Huddersfield and then we will see what we can get there.”

He added: "I understand that you all want to know it but I never get any information on injuries from other teams! So why should we give it out there to the world?

"We will try really hard that everybody is available at the weekend; we will probably fail with one or two but we will try everything that they will be on the pitch or available at least. Until then, you have to wait."

Keita's injury is reportedly the most concerning after the midfielder picked up a hamstring knock with Guinea. He underwent a scan on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Senegalese winger Mane underwent surgery on a hand injury, with the team saying his status will be "monitored" in the days leading up to this weekend's match.

Milner limped off the pitch during Liverpool's clash with City, but the versatile English player took part in full training on Thursday.

Adam Lallana has overcome a groin injury that's kept him out since September. Klopp said he's in line to feature against the Terriers.
