Liverpool has already signed two players this summer, and it could be about to add a third.
The Reds have reportedly firmed up their interest in Stoke winger Xherdan Shaqiri and have opened talks with his club over a move to Anfield, according to the Guardian's Andy Hunter.
It was reported at the start of June that Jurgen Klopp's side was considering Switzerland star Shaqiri as a cut-price option. The 26-year-old is thought to have a release clause worth a relatively modest £13 million in his Potters contract.
It seems certain Shaqiri, who impressed for his country at the World Cup in Russia, will leave Stoke after the club's relegation. His talent, age, and comparatively low value all make him an attractive option to Liverpool, which has spent close to £100 million already this summer on Naby Keita and Fabinho.
The Reds apparently hope to complete a deal for the former Bayern Munich man before they commence a preseason trip to the United States on July 22.
Shaqiri was Stoke's top goalscorer in the Premier League last season, hitting the net eight times despite the club's relegation.
