Ibrahimovic released by Manchester United
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is leaving Old Trafford.
On Friday, the Premier League published the released lists submitted by its clubs, and Ibrahimovic found himself on Manchester United's, confirming the Swedish striker's time with the Red Devils is up.
Ibrahimovic joined United on a free transfer last summer and inked a one-year contract with the option of a second season. Jose Mourinho confirmed in November that the Red Devils would take up the option, but, per the Guardian's Mark Dobson, an injury to a cruciate ligament ended Zlatan's career with the club.
In his one season at United, Ibrahimovic tallied 28 goals and nine assists in all competitions, and, at 35 years and 125 days old, became the oldest footballer to score 15 goals in a Premier League campaign. He was also an instrumental component of the Red Devils' conquest of the Europa League, notching nine goals and three assists in the tournament before suffering a knee injury in the second leg of the Red Devils' semi-final tie against RSC Anderlecht. The game proved to be his last appearance for the English club.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been released by Manchester United.
