The most exhausting story of the summer transfer season should be over "soon."

Mixed messages continue to emerge from Antoine Griezmann's camp as reports of a move to Manchester United gain steam.

The Frenchman confirmed talks between Atletico Madrid and his representatives are ongoing and that leaving is not exactly a forgone conclusion.

"I'm good with my club, but my future will be decided this summer," Griezmann told Spanish TV, per ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan. "My agents are talking with Atletico Madrid. We will see what happens.

"My future will be decided soon. If I leave this summer, the date will depend on the World Cup qualifiers."

Griezmann is currently on international duty with France, which has a friendly against Paraguay on June 2, a World Cup qualifier in Sweden seven days later, and another exhibition against England on June 13.

The Independent's Miguel Delaney and colleague Ed Malyon reported Tuesday that the 28-year-old told the club to let him go, although that would likely require United to meet the player's much-ballyhooed €100-million release clause.

He has already teased the possibility of joining United, giving his chances of a transfer a six out of 10.

Atletico's own position in the transfer market could affect the way it approaches Griezmann's situation. The Court of Arbitration for Sport will rule Thursday whether Los Rojiblancos' appeal against a year-long transfer ban has merit. If the embargo is upheld and the club cannot sign replacements, it could tempt the club to keep Griezmann, who has a contract until June 2021.

The Spanish outfit is prepared to increase Griezmann's annual salary to £12 million from his current £6-million stipend, according to Delaney's latest dispatch, but the tireless forward apparently accepted "superior" terms with United in January at £15 million a year.
