FIFA confirms request for information on Pogba's record transfer to United
FIFA confirmed that a request has been made to gather further information regarding Paul Pogba's move from Juventus to Manchester United last summer.
The inquiry reportedly involves payments that were made during the record-breaking €100-million transfer, with several outlets citing the player's agent, Mino Raiola, as a possible cause for the probe.
According to the Independent, Football Leaks documents revealed Tuesday that Raiola was the recipient of payments related to the transfer worth €49 million, after representing three parties (United, Juventus, and Pogba) during negotiations.
Though FIFA confirmed the request for information, it insisted that this is currently not a formal investigation.
A brief statement, courtesy of Sky Sports, from the world football governing body read: "We can confirm that FIFA/TMS has been requesting information on the transfer. We have no further comments at this stage."
United responded by indicating that FIFA has been in possession of the required documents since last summer.
"We don't comment on contracts," a spokesperson for the team said. "FIFA have had the documents since the transfer in August."
