Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor now has more club-imposed suspensions than goals this season.

The Englishman, 29, was suspended by the Championship-bound side on Tuesday after photos emerged of him partying in London, surrounded by a collection of laughing gas canisters, on Saturday evening. Earlier that day, Villa was officially relegated from the Premier League following a 1-0 loss to Manchester United.

An internal investigation into the attacker's conduct has been launched.

Agbonlahor was already in the midst of a two-week absence at the time of the alleged incident, as the club placed him on a personal fitness programme.

That decision came in the wake of his first club-imposed suspension of the campaign, which arose earlier this month after the long-serving Villan was spotted smoking a shisha pipe in Qatar during the international break.

Agbonlahor, a graduate of Villa's academy who has spent the entirety of his professional career - save for a pair of loan spells - at the West Midlands outfit, has found the net just once in 18 matches this season across all competitions.

The latest suspension comes on the back of a decidedly miserable week at Villa Park, as relegation was compounded by the resignation of board members David Bernstein and Mervyn King.
