The Official World Golf Ranking will restart upon the PGA Tour's resumption at the Charles Schwab Challenge on June 11, the organization announced Wednesday.
The ranking was frozen March 15 after competitive golf around the world was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
After the completion of the Charles Schwab Challenge, and the concurrent event on the Korn Ferry Tour, the ranking system will operate as normal, with points awarded to players, divisors adjusted, and past points degraded on a weekly basis.
Players who spend the majority of time competing on the European Tour, which is set to begin July 22, or other eligible circuits around the world will have to wait for play to resume in order to acquire points. The averaging formula used to calculate points will help mitigate the resulting effect on a player's ranking, according to the Official World Golf Ranking.
