Manchester City will be without leading scorer Sergio Aguero due to injury when they take on Cardiff City on Wednesday, according to manager Pep Guardiola.

However, Guardiola said the Argentine striker could potentially return to fitness in time for City's FA Cup semifinal match against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

"We will see in the next days," Guardiola added.

Although the exact nature of Aguero's injury remains unclear, the 30-year-old withdrew himself from Saturday's 2-0 win over Fulham in the second half.

This season, he leads the Premier League in scoring with 19 goals while City sit just two points back of leaders Liverpool with a game in hand. The club is also attempting to win an unprecedented quadruple.

If he's not fit for the Brighton encounter, Aguero could be called into action when City take on Tottenham in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal clash on April 9.

Meanwhile, Fabian Delph was also ruled out of Wednesday's match against Cardiff with an injury.
