Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's early returns as Manchester United caretaker manager has reportedly led players to believe he will be appointed on a permanent basis.

The players credit Solskjaer's uplifting spirit, attacking impetus, and democratic approach as reasons for him to stay long-term, according to The Telegraph's James Ducker.

Solskjaer has proven to be the antidote to predecessor Jose Mourinho's negative football, unleashing the potential in Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba while guiding the Red Devils back into the Champions League race.

Ducker reports that Solskjaer's ability to delegate has also scored praise within the walls of the Trafford Training Centre. Assistants Mike Phelan, Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna, and Mark Dempsey have all been given "key roles" at United.

The greatest hint yet that Solskjaer would get the gig arrived last week when it emerged that the 46-year-old had taken part in promotional videos for the 2019-20 season.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was considered the strong favorite to succeed Solskjaer next season, but those rumors died as Solskjaer lifted United into fourth place.

Ryan Giggs already backed his former United teammate to get the job, telling Agence France-Presse that he "can't see anyone past Ole at the moment."
