Manchester United could soon be offering a hefty pay increase to Marcus Rashford.

Rashford and his employers are in discussions over a contract extension that would see the young forward earn £150,000 per week including bonuses - more than double his current wages, reports The Telegraph's James Ducker.

The England star, who has six goals in his last 10 games and 10 for the season, currently stands to be a free agent in the summer of 2020, although United hold the option to extend the current deal by an extra year. However, it's thought they will put their hand in their pocket to ensure the 21-year-old's long-term commitment.

Ducker asserts a key motive for United is to ward off interest from fellow European giants including Real Madrid.

As for Rashford's own designs for the future, the budding star is believed to see himself at Old Trafford for the long term.

United, rejuvenated under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's interim rule, recently re-signed Anthony Martial to a new five-year deal as the club looks to tie down its young attacking core.
