Manchester United supporters have reportedly paid for a plane to fly a banner calling for the sacking of executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward during the club's trip to Burnley on Sept. 2.

The banner will bear the message "Ed Out - LUHG," according to the Telegraph's James Ducker. "LUHG" is an acronym for "Love United, Hate Glazer," a reference to the Red Devils' controversial majority-owning Glazer family.

Woodward has come under fire in recent weeks after a disappointing transfer window for United in which Jose Mourinho failed to land any central defensive signings. Reports earlier in August suggested the club's boardroom staff vetoed the Portuguese manager's center-back targets, which reportedly included England breakout star Harry Maguire and Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng.

United fans have employed the plane banner tactic before. The slogan "Wrong One - Moyes Out" was aired in March 2014, a month before David Moyes was sacked after less than a season in the hot seat.

It appears all is far from well at Old Trafford. This latest report comes just days after it was alleged United execs were seeking the appointment of a technical director to try to repair relations between Mourinho and the board.

United have endured an inauspicious start to the season. After relying on Luke Shaw's 83rd-minute winner to beat Leicester City on opening day, Mourinho's side suffered an ignominious defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend that left the club three points off the pace after just two games.
