Germany striker Niclas Fullkrug scored on his return to Werder Bremen in a 3-0 German Cup win over fifth-tier Luneberg, four days after arriving on loan from West Ham.

The goal, a second-half penalty, was his first since scoring for AC Milan in January during a six-month loan, in which he scored once in 20 matches.

The 33-year-old has joined his former club Bremen, having left in 2023, after struggling during an injury-hit West Ham spell, where he scored just three times in 18 months.

Bayer Leverkusen, cup winners in 2024, beat third-division Wehen Weisbaden 4-0 thanks to goals from Patrik Schick, Lucas Vazquez, Nathan Tella and Christian Kofane.

RB Leipzig cruised to a 6-0 win over fourth-division Eintracht Trier.

Brajan Gruda, Willi Orban, Ridle Baku, Conrad Harder, Antonio Nusa and Ezechiel Banzuzi all got on the scoresheet for the Saxons.

Current holders Bayern Munich and five-time winners Borussia Dortmund play their first-round ties in September.
