Report: RB Leipzig open talks with Chelsea over Werner reunion
RB Leipzig have had discussions with Chelsea about the possibility of reuniting with Timo Werner, according to BBC Sport's Alistair Magowan.
Werner has struggled to adjust to the Premier League since joining the Blues in 2020 for £47.5 million. It now appears he's become a surplus to Chelsea's requirements following the arrival of winger Raheem Sterling from Manchester City earlier this summer.
But Werner's return to Germany is complicated by his lucrative salary, which is reportedly worth £200,000 per week.
Werner could potentially join the Bundesliga outfit on loan, but he'd likely need to accept a pay cut or have Chelsea agree to pay a portion of his salary for the 2022-23 campaign, Magowan adds.
The Germany international has scored just 10 goals in 56 Premier League appearances.
