Robben ends retirement to attempt comeback with Groningen
Arjen Robben isn't done just yet.
The former Bayern Munich winger is coming out of retirement and hopes to play for Eredivisie side FC Groningen next season, the Dutch club announced Saturday.
"At this time, I'm not sure if it will happen," Robben said. "What I am sure of, is that my drive and motivation will be at 100 percent. It will be a tough physical challenge, but I'm going for it.
"I'm going to work hard and when everything feels right, I'm going to join the team for the first training of the new season."
The 36-year-old, who retired from football in 2019, started his senior career with Groningen in 2000 before establishing himself as one of the game's brightest stars with PSV Eindhoven, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern.

Robben won just about every trophy at club level, including the Champions League, Premier League, La Liga, and eight Bundesliga titles. He also earned 96 caps for the Netherlands and played a key role in the nation's run to the 2010 World Cup final.
