No miracle this time: USA downed by advancing India at T20 Cricket WC
The United States was defeated by India by seven wickets with 10 balls remaining in T20 Cricket World Cup group play on Wednesday.
India advances to the next round with the win, improving to 3-0. It's the first loss for the U.S. at the tournament. America is 2-1, in second place in Group A, faces Ireland on Friday, and remains well in the hunt for the Super Eights.
The Americans batted first and recorded 110 runs. India was led by bowler Arshdeep Singh, who took four wickets in four sublime overs, allowing only nine runs. Suryakumar Yadav recorded 50 runs off 49 balls to lead all batsmen. Singh was named player of the match.
It was another disappointing innings for India's Virat Kohli, who was sent off for a golden duck, which is cricket for being retired without recording a run on only one ball. It's the first golden duck of Kohli's T20 World Cup career.
Despite Kohli and Rohit Sharma not producing offensively, India did record the highest chase at the much-maligned pitch in Nassau County, New York. The previous high was 107.
