Duke's Jared McCain: Promising during exhibition game
McCain logged 15 points (3-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 9-9 FT), two assists, one rebound and one steal across his 20 minutes during the Blue Devils' exhibition game Wednesday against UNC Pembroke.
Analysis:
McCain is a consensus five-star recruit who averaged 18.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals across his 34 senior games at high school. McCain then enrolled at Duke, a college that helped one-and-done freshmen Dariq Whitehead and Dereck Lively be first-round selections in the 2023 NBA Draft. McCain already had a successful skill set before enrolling at Duke and is still expected to improve, becoming one of the 2023-24 NCAA season's most promising newcomers in the process.
