Canada secured a spot in this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup after beating French Guiana 4-1 in Vancouver on Sunday.

Junior Hoilett opened the scoring 11 minutes into the contest, only to watch the visiting side make things interesting with an equalizer 15 minutes later courtesy of a defensive gaffe.

But it was smooth sailing shortly after for the Canadians, who went into the break with a 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Lucas Cavallini and Jonathan David.

Cavallini added another shortly after halftime to bring his tally to five goals in 11 appearances for the national team.

Though Canada couldn't add to its lead, the result was never in doubt after Cavallini's second tally.

John Herdman and Co. are now in with a chance to capture the Gold Cup for the second time in Canada's history; the country's first title came back in 2000.

The tournament begins in June.
