Former Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Jeremiah Masoli agreed to sign with the Ottawa Redblacks in free agency, sources told Justin Dunk of 3DownNation.
Masoli's contract will pay him around $450,000 in 2022, reports TSN's Farhan Lalji. The Edmonton Elks were also vying for the quarterback's services, according to TSN's Dave Naylor.
Masoli, 33, spent the last eight years in Hamilton and was an East Division All-Star in 2018. The Tiger-Cats allowed him to hit the open market after extending Dane Evans.
The Redblacks offense ranked last in the CFL in passing touchdowns (eight) and passing yards per game (194.6) last season. Masoli will look to stabilize the quarterback position after Ottawa cycled through Caleb Evans, Matt Nichols, Dominique Davis, and Devlin Hodges in 2021.
Masoli tossed 80 touchdowns and 51 interceptions across 114 appearances for the Tiger-Cats. He threw for 2,445 yards with 10 touchdowns and six picks over 12 outings last season.
CFL teams may officially sign free agents beginning Feb. 8.
