The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed quarterback Cody Fajardo to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Monday.

The move keeps Fajardo off this winter's free-agent market and ties him to the Roughriders through the 2021 campaign.

Fajardo has started 15 games for the Roughriders in 2019 but he's appeared in all 16 games. He's thrown for 3,873 yards with 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

A four-year CFL veteran, Fajardo spent the first two seasons of his career with the Toronto Argonauts before going to the BC Lions for one. He joined Saskatchewan as a free agent in February 2019.

The 27-year-old has a Grey Cup ring from his time with the Argonauts.
