Adams exits game vs. Redblacks with head injury

Montreal Alouettes quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. left Friday's game against the Ottawa Redblacks with a head injury during the third quarter.

The Alouettes placed the 26-year-old in concussion protocol, the team announced.

Antonio Pipkin stepped in to replace Adams under center.

Adams had completed 13 of his 25 pass attempts for 120 yards and one interception and added 25 yards and two touchdowns on the ground before being sidelined.

Pipkin threw eight completions for 57 yards on 17 attempts.

Montreal led 24-21 upon Adams' departure but lost 30-27 in overtime.
