After spending his Montreal Alouettes debut on the bench, quarterback Johnny Manziel received first-team reps in practice Monday, according to TSN's John Lu.

Manziel was acquired by the struggling Als in a blockbuster trade with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on July 22, but watched from the sideline last week as Vernon Adams Jr. started in Montreal's 44-23 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos.

Despite the fanfare that accompanied Johnny Football's move to Canada, the former Heisman Trophy winner and Cleveland Browns first-round pick has yet to attempt his first regular-season pass in the CFL.

The 25-year-old served as Jeremiah Masoli's backup for five games in Hamilton before being traded. Montreal, coincidentally, is set to face Manziel's former club Friday in his second game as an Alouette.
