Johnny Manziel, still, has yet to make his CFL debut.

Following a trade from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to the Montreal Alouettes on Sunday, the reported plan for Manziel was that he wouldn't start Thursday night against the Edmonton Eskimos but he would see the field.

He saw the field from the sidelines. Vernon Adams Jr. played from start to finish in a 41-23 blowout loss despite completing just 14 passes, throwing one interception, and taking six sacks.

Alouettes fans, including those who flocked to pick up Manziel's No. 2 jersey, and curious observers couldn't hide their disappointment.

Manziel's next chance to resurrect his football career comes Friday, Aug. 3, versus the Tiger-Cats.
