Luca Congi rode off into a sea of green and white Monday when he signed a one-day contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and promptly retired.
The Roughriders reported the signing via a statement on the official team website.
Congi was drafted by the Riders in the second round of the 2006 CFL Draft out of Simon Fraser University. He played in 87 games over six seasons with the Riders before finishing his final two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
"I am very honoured to be able to retire today as a Roughrider," stated Congi. "I have a lot of great memories of my time in Saskatchewan. The support received from the fans in Rider Nation is special and I will never forget it."
Congi won his only Grey Cup with the Roughriders in 2007.
