Jermaine Gabriel narrowly escaped a serious neck injury Thursday night, as just one day later things are looking up for the defensive back.

After suffering a gut-wrenching hit to the head in the Toronto Argonauts season opener against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Gabriel was removed from BMO Field on a stretcher and taken to hospital. The Argos reported Friday that Gabriel is now resting at home and is expected to make a full recovery.

Gabriel suffered the injury on a punt return in the 4th quarter when he collided with teammate Matt Black while attempting to tackle Hamilton returner Brandon Banks.
