The Toronto Argonauts have released former Grey Cup MVP Chad Kackert, as well as quarterback Adrian McPherson, the team announced Wednesday.
Running back Kackert rushed for 235 yards on 39 carries last season in his comeback from an ankle injury that cost him the previous two years.
McPherson signed with Toronto as a free agent ahead of the 2015 season after a lengthy stint with the Montreal Alouettes. His release boosts Mitchell Gale's chance of sticking on the roster as a backup to Ricky Ray.
