The Leroy Sane rumor mill is picking up steam.
The winger is close to a return from injury, but it's unclear if he'll ever suit up for Manchester City again.
Sane has apparently decided that he wants to leave City and join Bayern Munich when the January transfer window opens, according to Bild's Christian Falk.
The 23-year-old, who has 18 months remaining on his contract, appeared to be on the verge of a transfer to the Bundesliga champions last summer before tearing his ACL in August. The injury has forced him to miss all of City's matches this season.
Bayern Munich launched a bid last May worth €80 million to sign Sane, which was quickly rejected by City.
It's understood that City was holding out for a fee closer to €150 million. However, that figure is reportedly expected to drop significantly considering that Sane is nearing the end of his contract with the Premier League champions.
News of the German's speedy recovery from injury could expedite Bayern's pursuit, as it was recently revealed that the winger took part in his first training session on the pitch.
Sane, who joined City from FC Schalke 04 in 2016 for a £37-million transfer fee, played an important role in helping the English club win a pair of Premier League titles, the FA Cup, and League Cup.
