Borussia Dortmund announces deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Toprak
Despite the transfer window closing less than a week ago, Borussia Dortmund has already completed a bit of business ahead of next season.
The German side announced that Omer Toprak will join the club this summer from Bayer Leverkusen, releasing a statement outlining its intentions to meet the release clause in the player’s contract.
"Omer Toprak is a strong defender with international experience and great leadership qualities,” Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said.
Although Dortmund did not disclose how much the release clause is worth, the club revealed that Toprak will sign a four-year contract.
Dortmund added that Toprak will remain focused on his duties at Leverkusen for the rest of the current season.
Toprak, 27, has made over 180 Bundesliga appearances with both Leverkusen and Freiburg, and has won 25 caps with the Turkish national team.
