If Joshua beats Whyte, the bout could serve as a prelude to a fight with Deontay Wilder, according to ESPN's Mike Coppinger.
Joshua defeated Whyte via seventh-round TKO in their first meeting in 2015. It was Whyte's first loss of his career.
Joshua (25-3, 22 KOs) took down Jermaine Franklin via unanimous decision in his last fight in April. The victory came after consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua is just 3-3 over his past six fights.
Whyte (29-3, 19 KOs) has been idle since defeating Franklin via majority decision last November.
