Mayweather: 'I didn't really train' for McGregor fight
Floyd Mayweather Jr. took a minimalist approach toward training for his 2017 megafight against Conor McGregor.
The 42-year-old boxing champion spoke about his preparation for the bout on the latest episode of the "Drink Champs" podcast, revealing that he only did push-ups and sit-ups leading up to the matchup.
"For the Conor McGregor fight, I didn't really train," Mayweather said. "All I did was do push-ups and sit-ups. That's all I did. Push-ups and sit-ups, box a few times, hit the bag a few times, because, actually, training camp was in different places. I would do training camp in Vegas (for) a few days, (but) sometimes I wouldn't go to the gym for a week."
When asked if it was because he didn't take the fight seriously, Mayweather replied: "I took it serious, but like I said before, I wanted to have some fun in the fight and I wanted to entertain the people."
Mayweather won the bout, defeating McGregor via 10th-round TKO. Mayweather recently teased a potential rematch following McGregor's victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.
