There were a whole lot of feelings at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday night.
Juan Martin del Potro's miraculous wild-card run at the US Open ended in the quarterfinals at the hands of No. 3 Stan Wawrinka, but not before the crowd recognized the Argentinian and how far he'd come after battling a career-threatening wrist injury.
Del Potro went back and forth with Wawrinka through three hard-fought sets before running out of gas in the fourth. The touching moment - arguably the moment of the tournament - came with Del Potro one game from elimination.
Wawrinka acknowledged Del Potro after the match, too:
Wawrinka will face No. 6 Kei Nishikori in the semifinals. The other two men standing are No. 1 Novak Djokovic and No. 10 Gael Monfils.
