Tuesday's Shortstop Value Rankings
Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Tuesday, April 5 (note: makeup games between HOU at NYY and BOS at CLE are not included):
Value Rankings

Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Troy Tulowitzki (TOR) | at TB | 9 |
Brandon Crawford (SF) | at MIL | 8 |
Tulowitzki rises above the pack on this Carlos Correa-less slate. No shortstop has the kind of lineup hitting around him that Tulo does, and he has found ways to drive in runs so far with just one hit in his first two games. A breakout game could be in the works.
Crawford was a beneficiary of a Giants' lineup that beat up on Wily Peralta on Monday, scoring 12 runs. Jimmy Nelson doesn't project as much more than a bottom-of-the-rotation starter on most teams, so expect more cash-game value from the former All-Star.

Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Trevor Story (COL) | vs. ARI | 7 |
Ketel Marte (SEA) | at TEX | 7 |
Ian Desmond (TEX) | vs. SEA | 7 |
Jimmy Rollins (CWS) | at OAK | 7 |
Jean Segura (ARI) | vs. COL | 6 |
Brad Miller (TB) | vs. TOR | 6 |
Addison Russell (CHC) | at LAA | 6 |
Corey Seager (LAD) | at SD | 6 |
Dear Trevor Story: we get it. You can mash and you've got one of the most pun-able names in recent history. After two home runs on Opening Day against none other than Cy Young runner-up Zack Greinke, there's little doubt that the you'll see increased ownership numbers on day two. DFSers expecting another two-dinger performance will be disappointed; the D-Backs might not throw a strike your way again this series.
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Marcus Semien (OAK) | vs. CWS | 5 |
Jonathan Villar (MIL) | vs. SF | 4 |
Alexei Ramirez (SD) | vs. LAD | 4 |
Jedd Gyorko (STL) | at PIT | 4 |
Ramirez has hit .364 for his career against Scott Kazmir, but those numbers came when both were in the hitter-friendly American League. Kazmir should have the upper hand in San Diego.

Nothing to See Here
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Jordy Mercer (PIT) | vs. STL | 3 |
Andrelton Simmons (LAA) | vs. CHC | 4 |
Jose Igelsias (DET) | at MIA | 2 |
Elvis Andrus (TEX) | vs. SEA | 2 |
Adeiny Hechavarria (MIA) | vs. DET | 1 |
Mercer is cheap enough that he's not going to sink any lineups, even if he goes 0-for. On the other hand, Andrus is pricier without a significantly better outlook against Hisashi Iwakuma, who the Rangers' shortstop has hit just 6-for-34 with just one extra-base hit for his career.
