Here are theScore's first baseman/designated hitter value rankings for Tuesday, April 5 (note: makeup games between HOU at NYY and BOS at CLE are not included):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | 3B | SS | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Jose Abreu (CWS) at OAK 9
Paul Goldschmidt (ARI) vs. COL 8
Miguel Cabrera (DET) at MIA 8

It's been eight seasons since Cabrera played for the Marlins and the former two-time AL MVP has just seven plate appearances at Miami's relatively new stadium. Still, with an elite line-drive rate (above 24 percent in each of the last three seasons) that will play in any ballpark, expect Cabrera to see high ownership levels in cash games all season long.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Chris Colabello (TOR) at TB 7
Logan Morrison (TB) vs. TOR 7
Anthony Rizzo (CHC) at LAA 7
Brandon Belt (SF) at MIL 7
Albert Pujols (LAA) vs. CHC 6
Stephen Piscotty (STL) at PIT 6

Toronto is built to maximize trips through the order, meaning that Colabello should be able to overcome hitting sixth most nights.

Morrison occupies prime real estate in the two spot. With Jays SP Aaron Sanchez joining the rotation, expect some jitters in his first regular season start in some time. Morrison can be deployed in tournament lineups.

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Edwin Encarnacion (TOR) at TB 5
Adrian Gonzalez (LAD) at SD 5
Dae-Ho Lee (SEA) at TEX 5
Justin Bour (MIA) vs. DET 5
C.J. Cron (LAA) vs. CHC 5
Chris Carter (MIL) vs. SF 4
Victor Martinez (DET) at MIA 4

Encarnacion has middling career numbers against Jake Odorizzi and at his price, there are simply better options at 1B.

Carter is the textbook definition of boom-or-bust, but deserves attention in tournament formats when hitting at home in Miller Park.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Prince Fielder (TEX) vs. SEA 3
Wil Myers (SD) vs. LAD 3
Billy Butler (OAK) vs. CWS 3
Mark Canha (OAK) vs. CWS 2
Mitch Moreland (TEX) vs. SEA 2
Matt Adams (STL) at PIT 1

Myers hit just .238 at home last season; he's not worth the risk against Jon Lester.

Despite his reputation as a slugger, Fielder's power has been on the decline of late. With just 18 homers in 114 career games at Globe Life Park, and facing a great groundball pitcher in Hasashi Iwakuma, temper expectations for a big game from the Rangers' DH.
