Tuesday's Second Baseman Value Rankings
Here are theScore's second baseman value rankings for Tuesday, April 5 (note: makeup games between HOU at NYY and BOS at CLE are not included):
Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | 3B | SS | OF | SP
Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Joe Panik (SF) | at MIL | 10 |
Ian Kinsler (DET) | at MIA | 9 |
Ben Zobrist (CHC) | at LAA | 9 |
Rougned Odor (TEX) | vs. SEA | 8 |
Robinson Cano (SEA) | at TEX | 8 |
The Giants scoring 13 runs in Milwaukee makes two statements: San Francisco's batting order is nicely balanced, and the Brewers' pitchers are going to get slapped around at times. With Panik hitting second, he'll have more opportunities to rack up runs before leaving Milwaukee.
Kinsler's ability to hit line-drives and better splits against lefties are a sign of good things to come in Miami against LHP Wei-Yin Chen -- especially with power hitters Miguel Cabrera and J.D. Martinez hitting behind him.

Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Dee Gordon (MIA) | vs. DET | 7 |
Logan Forsythe (TB) | vs. TOR | 7 |
Addison Russell (CHC) | at LAA | 6 |
Kolten Wong (STL) | at PIT | 6 |
It's hard to tell what kind of pitcher Justin Verlander will be in 2016, but for a player with little-to-no home run power, Gordon will need to rack up a couple of steals and runs to hit tournament value. Limit his use to cash-game play given his current price.
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Josh Harrison (PIT) | vs. STL | 5 |
Brett Lawrie (CWS) | at OAK | 5 |
Chase Utley (LAD) | at SD | 4 |
DJ LeMahieu (COL) | at ARI | 4 |
Utley has poor career numbers in minimal at-bats against James Shields; the Padres' extreme pitcher's park negates much of the value of Utley hitting second for the Dodgers.

Nothing to See Here
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Aaron Hill (MIL) | vs. SF | 3 |
Cory Spangenberg (SD) | vs. LAD | 3 |
Ryan Goins (TOR) | at TB | 2 |
Goins gets plenty of at-bats, but that doesn't guarantee a DFS impact. In 2015, the Jays' utility infielder posted zero fantasy points in 29 percent of his appearances.
