- At this point, it doesn't appear anyone can touch Demetrious Johnson at 135 pounds. "Mighty Mouse" has turned away all comers since capturing the title in September 2012, and most recently finished Chris Cariaso with a second-round Kimura at UFC 178.
- Ian McCall is set to face John Lineker at UFC 183 in January in what is most likely a title eliminator. The two were set to tangle in November, but a bacterial infection forced McCall off the card after weigh-ins.
- Kyoji Horiguchi notched his fourth straight win in the Octagon against an over-matched Louis Gaudinot at UFC 182, and could find himself in the upper echelon of the contender-starved division with two or three more meaningful wins under his belt.
