Wild's Stewart hopes to 'stick it to' Blues

Chris Stewart has donned two other NHL sweaters since the St. Louis Blues traded him at last year's trade deadline, but the Minnesota Wild forward is still bitter about it.

“Any time you get traded in this league, I think you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder and want to stick it to them every time you play them,” Stewart told Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The contending Blues traded Stewart and goaltender Jaroslav Halak to the rebuilding Buffalo Sabres last March in the deal that brought netminder Ryan Miller and forward Steve Ott to St. Louis.

“There’s no other way to take it than personal," Stewart said.

The Sabres traded Stewart to the Wild on March 2 for a 2017 second-round draft pick.

He has two goals and two assists in six games with Minnesota.

The Wild face the Blues on Saturday night for the first of three meetings over the final 14 games.
