Chris Stewart finally has a new home.
Buffalo Sabres general manager Tim Murray dealt the forward to the Minnesota Wild for a second-round draft pick in 2017, the team announced.
Stewart, an impending unrestricted free agent, has been long-rumored to be on the trade block, and was oft-linked to the Boston Bruins. Murray appeared adamant in his request form at least a second-round pick in return, even if it meant delaying the pick for a couple years.
Since the calendar turned to 2015, Stewart has recorded six goals and nine assists, and could be a valuable asset for the Wild down the stretch if on top of his game.
