Here are theScore's outfielder value rankings for Monday, May 30 (all stats exclude Sunday's games):

Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Starling Marte (PIT) | at MIA | 9 |
J.D. Martinez (DET) | at LAA | 9 |
Miguel Sano (MIN) | at OAK | 9 |
Nomar Mazara (TEX) | at CLE | 9 |
Marcell Ozuna (MIA) | vs. PIT | 8 |
Charlie Blackmon (COL) | vs. CIN | 8 |
Jose Bautista (TOR) | vs. NYY | 8 |
Ian Desmond (TEX) | at CLE | 8 |
Marte has scuffled a bit against lefties so far this season, but he's been very successful against LHPs for his career. Marlins SP Justin Nicolino may have reached a season high in Ks with six in his last outing, but he hasn't been able to keep runs off the board. Marte is in line for a big game. Sano has the power stroke working with four homers in 10 games. Streakiness limits him to GPPs.
Mazara continues to be an excellent option and isn't going to be too expensive. His .362 wOBA is 22nd among outfielders and he's 10th in batting average. Blackmon is the most attractive choice in Colorado's outfield and is a cash game mainstay. Bautista went yard Sunday and could easily do it again against Yankees SP Ivan Nova.
Mid-Tier Targets
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Mike Trout (LAA) | vs. DET | 7 |
Andrew McCutchen (PIT) | at MIA | 7 |
Stephen Piscotty (STL) | at MIL | 7 |
Dexter Fowler (CHC) | vs. LAD | 7 |
Mookie Betts (BOS) | at BAL | 7 |
Hunter Pence (SF) | at ATL | 7 |
Randal Grichuk (STL) | at MIL | 7 |
Nelson Cruz (SEA) | vs. SD | 7 |
Michael Saunders (TOR) | vs. NYY | 7 |
Jorge Soler (CHC) | vs. LAD | 7 |
Joc Pederson (LAD) | at CHC | 7 |
Trout is slightly inexpensive based on his production, so the question is whether or not you trust him or Tigers SP Justin Verlander more. If you've penciled in Verlander, stay away from this outfielder, but if any of the Angels return value it's most likely Trout.
Grichuk is way past his early season woes hitting .313 with a pair of dingers over his last 10 games. Saunders continues to roll and is worth cash-game consideration.
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Carlos Gonzalez (COL) | vs. CIN | 6 |
Gregory Polanco (PIT) | at MIA | 6 |
Jackie Bradley Jr. (BOS) | at BAL | 6 |
Adam Duvall (CIN) | at COL | 6 |
Bryce Harper (WAS) | at PHI | 6 |
Evan Gattis (HOU) | at ARI | 6 |
Lorenzo Cain (KC) | vs. TB | 6 |
Mark Trumbo (BAL) | vs. BOS | 6 |
Yoenis Cespedes (NYM) | vs. CWS | 6 |
Odubel Herrera (PHI) | vs. WAS | 6 |
Cespedes' salary takes a hit with White Sox SP Jose Quintana on the mound, but that shouldn't be too much of a deterrent. Relegate him and his power upside to GPPs. Polanco is normally a go, but it's worth considering benching him in favor of his Pirates teammates with a lefty facing them, even if that lefty is Nicolino. It could be a rare day where his ownership is low.
Bradley is a decent cash-game option, but he's made a career out of being streaky and with his big hit streak over, expectations need to be tempered. Trumbo and Duvall both have power for days and are in scenarios to take advantage of that. They're both prone to the odd 0-for4, though, so if ownership spikes, which it should, it might be wise to shop elsewhere.
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Ryan Braun (MIL) | vs. STL | 5 |
Jay Bruce (CIN) | at COL | 5 |
Kris Bryant (CHC) | vs. LAD | 5 |
Khris Davis (OAK) | vs. MIN | 5 |
Matt Holliday (STL) | at MIL | 5 |
Jacoby Ellsbury (NYY) | at TOR | 5 |
Jarrod Dyson (KC) | vs. TB | 5 |
Kevin Pillar (TOR) | vs. NYY | 5 |
Corey Dickerson (TB) | at KC | 5 |
Adam Jones (BAL) | vs. BOS | 5 |
Braun leads all outfielders with a .425 wOBA and a .351 batting average, but he's battling a stiff neck and is no guarantee to start. Dickerson is a risky value play and has struggled most of the season, but he has real, raw power and is a great combination contrarian-bargain play.
Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
George Springer (HOU) | at ARI | 4 |
Jason Heyward (CHC) | vs. LAD | 4 |
Gerardo Parra (COL) | vs. CIN | 3 |
Christian Yelich (MIA) | vs. PIT | 3 |
Adam Eaton (CWS) | at NYM | 3 |
Giancarlo Stanton (MIA) | vs. PIT | 3 |
Colby Rasmus (HOU) | at ARI | 3 |
Justin Upton (DET) | at LAA | 3 |
Billy Hamilton (CIN) | at COL | 2 |
Jeremy Hazelbaker (STL) | at MIL | 2 |
Springer comes in as one of the most expensive options on the day because of recent success combined with the fact he's facing Diamondbacks SP Edwin Escobar, who is a temporary injury fill-in they picked up off waivers from Boston. Save the money, however, and build from a number of solid names in lieu of one.
