Lamar Odom won't need kidney transplant, will seek counseling

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

Lamar Odom continues to show "miraculous progress" in his recovery following a drug overdose.

The former NBA forward won't need a kidney transplant, sources told Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News.

Medina previously reported that a transplant was likely necessary after the 35-year-old suffered from kidney failure.

Odom reportedly used cocaine and sexual enhancement supplements at a Nevada brothel before being found unconscious earlier this month. He was first airlifted to a hospital in Las Vegas, before being discharged and flown to Los Angeles for further treatment.

The two-time NBA champion has reportedly recovered tremendously since then; after being taken off life support, Odom has been able to walk on his own and has begun physical therapy.

He also plans to seek counseling for his drug addiction, according to Medina's sources.
