In the week since Lamar Odom was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel, the former Los Angeles Lakers forward has made incremental progress, showing signs of promise in his recovery process.

On Monday, LA Daily News' Mark Medina reported that Odom has begun physical therapy.

Medina states that Odom has recently made sufficient enough improvement to warrant the next step in the 35-year-old's rehabilitation process. The two-time NBA champion's therapy sessions will determine his walking capabilities.

Medina adds that Odom has "experienced frequent fatigue and has received constant treatment on his lungs and kidneys" and that Odom "could also have serious brain damage."

The potential brain damage, as mentioned, could be the result of Odom having reportedly taken cocaine and 10 doses of a herbal sexual performance enhancer over a three-day period.

Odom has had several visitors since being admitted to the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center - most recently, former teammate Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Clippers' "Big Three."

Metta World Peace - Odom's teammate on the Lakers' 2010 championship squad - recently praised Bryant and Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak for spending time with their friend and former comrade but warned against the detrimental impact on Odom's family members due to the large amounts of visitors.

"They should know they're taking time away from Lamar's children," World Peace indicated. "They need to keep it simple, so Lamar's children can see him whenever they want to see him. They're waiting in line to see their own father."

The news of Odom engaging in physical therapy is certainly a positive sign, given the previously dire reports over the past week.

The NBA family continues to keep him in its heart and prayers.
