Male figure skaters are (unfortunately) toning down their outfit choices
Figure skating has always been known for ridiculous costumes, but it looks like the sport is entering a new era for the men. Which is unfortunate because how can you not love this forever.

Everyone is deciding to tone down the crazy, and former figure skater Johnny Weir talked to Reuters about the change.
"Right now a Victorian or conservative wave has crept on top of men's figure skating," he said to the news outlet.
"After the last Olympics there was a major relapse into being conservative with your choreography and costuming in men's figure skating...There was a huge backlash against the things that I or Stephane Lambiel had done. Even Evgeni Plushenko was very famous for wearing outrageous costumes and rhinestones and going nuts with his costumes and music choices."
Skating could use another Weir, who retired from the sport but is now an analyst for NBC. This was a regular day for him:

Canada's Patrick Chan also lamented that the skating style itself is also a snore.
"We have much more complexity in our programmes than the skaters in the 80s but the skating in the 80s was much more epic and much more memorable," he said to Reuters.
"So I hope I can be somewhat of a throwback skater in the fact that I can bring excitement back. I can be like the black sheep of the herd, be different and be unique and be someone people will remember."
To do that, you must look like this, Patrick.
