The Dallas Cowboys released defensive tackle Amobi Okoye on Wednesday.
Okoye was selected in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, and at 19 became the youngest player to be selected in the first round. The 27-year-old selected Louisville over Harvard and enrolled at the university when he was just 15 years old.
A precocious talent, Okoye's professional football career did not match his academic prowess. Okoye fought through Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis that caused seizures.
Although he was signed by the Cowboys in May 2014, Okoye last suited up for the Chicago Bears in 2012.
