Sunday's Shooting Guard Value Rankings
Here are theScore's shooting guard value rankings for Sunday, March 27:
Value Rankings
PG | SG | SF | PF | C
Top Options
| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Klay Thompson (GS) | vs. PHI | 9 |
| Monta Ellis (IND) | vs. HOU | 8 |
| Hollis Thompson (PHI) | at GS | 8 |
Klay Thompson may see his minutes dry up by the end of the game if this is a blow out, but unlike teammate Steph Curry, his DFS salary does not require him to be elite every night to return value. If he does his customary 3-point dance early and often, he'll be a lock.
Beyond the most expensive option - profiled below - SG features a slew of cheaper options. Ellis is one of them. He's seen his value slightly rise as his minutes have increased. He's playing close to 40 minutes per game over his last four. He had a double-double and shot efficiently in his last game against the defensively deficient Houston Rockets.
Over the whole season, Hollis Thompson has averaged fewer than 30 minutes per game. This has happened only once in his last 10 (29 minutes...oh so close) and his production has reached normalcy. He is very inexpensive and should be able to return value in a difficult game.
Best of the Rest
| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| James Harden (HOU) | at IND | 7 |
| Lou Williams (LAL) | vs. WAS | 6 |
| Jamal Crawford (LAC) | vs. DEN | 6 |
| Bradley Beal (WAS) | at LAL | 5 |
| J.J. Redick (LAC) | vs. DEN | 5 |
Harden is questionable after missing Saturday's practice, but if he plays he should be expected to rip it up. He's eclipsed 40 minutes in three straight, though, so a scaling back of his minutes corresponding to his illness could be in the cards. His ceiling is a triple-double.
Crawford gets the slight not over Redick based on his lower salary and recent spike in usage. Neither is a guarantee, though, so both are advisable only in GPP contests.
Nothing to See Here
| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Wesley Matthews (DAL) | at SAC | 4 |
| Kobe Bryant (LAL) | vs. WAS | 4 |
| Will Barton (DEN) | at LAC | 3 |
Bryant may not cost much relative to the elite players at other positions, but he's among the more expensive options with SG eligibility. His results are inconsistent, but he still features upside in the neighborhood of 30 points and a few counting stats. There are better options.
Barton's minutes have taken a hit, reducing his overall appeal. Without access to more playing time, he's less likely to be a valuable commodity.
