Sunday's Point Guard Value Rankings
Here are theScore's point guard value rankings for Sunday, March 27:
Value Rankings
PG | SG | SF | PF | C
Top Options
| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| John Wall (WAS) | at LAL | 9 |
| Chris Paul (LAC) | vs. DEN | 8 |
| Ish Smith (PHI) | at GS | 8 |
Wall should be worth his salary. The one hesitation that could be attached to his name is that he played a whopping 49 minutes against Minnesota on Friday. With the Wizards fighting for their playoff lives, however, Wall should be in line for a big game against a team he dominated in their only other meeting with 34 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds and three 3-pointers.
Paul hasn't been returning top value as consistently, but a date with Denver could be enough to get him close to it. He'll likely put together a productive line worthy of cash game consideration.
Smith, and to a lesser extent teammate Isaiah Canaan, could benefit from garbage time glory if the Warriors run away with this one. Canaan requires less to return value, but Smith's ceiling is higher, making him a better GPP candidate.
Best of the Rest
| Name | Opponent | Rankings |
|---|---|---|
| J.J. Barea (DAL) | at SAC | 8 |
| Stephen Curry (GS) | vs. PHI | 7 |
| Jordan Clarkson (LAL) | vs. WAS | 7 |
| Rajon Rondo (SAC) | vs. DAL | 6 |
| Patrick Beverley (HOU) | at IND | 6 |
Deron Williams (abdomen) has been ruled out, leading to another start for Barea. He tallied 21 points and six assists without Williams on Friday, and is averaging 15.4 points and 4.8 assists over his last five games.
Curry might seem like a no-brainer against the 76ers, but if this game gets out of hand - and it very easily could - he might not step foot on the floor after the third. That would severely limit his value.
With rookie phenom D'Angelo Russell unlikely to play, Clarkson should be the beneficiary. His salary is low enough that even a decent game could be worth rostering him in order to spend up elsewhere.
Nothing to See Here
| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Emmanuel Mudiay (DEN) | at LAC | 4 |
| George Hill (IND) | vs. HOU | 3 |
Mudiay has upside, as he showed against the 76ers this week, but his production is far too volatile to trust on the regular. He hasn't produced against the Clippers yet, and there's no reason to believe Sunday will change this trend.
