Aric Almirola: Headed for retirement after 2022
Almirola announced Monday that he'll retire from competitive stock car racing following the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season, Jenna Fryer of The Associated Press reports.
Analysis:
The 37-year-old will pilot the No. 10 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing for one last season before stepping away following the Nov. 6 finale in Phoenix, citing a desire to spend more time with his family. A fixture in the Cup Series since 2007, Almirola became a full-time driver in 2012 and scored his career-best finish (fifth) in the Series standings in 2018 and his most top-10 finishes (18) in 2020. He's reached the playoffs in all four seasons since joining Stewart-Haas Racing in 2018.
