Paul Menard: Fifth-Place at Michigan
Menard finished fifth in the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway Sunday afternoon.
Analysis:
Menard was the surprise performer of the afternoon at Michigan. He started 15th on the grid in his No. 21 Ford, and would gradually race his way forward. He would spend a good deal of the early stages racing in the middle-teens and trying to keep pace with the leaders. Menard would really make his move late in stage 2, and would finish fifth in that stage. He would hold onto that great track position after pit stops and race the final green flag laps hard to earn his first Top-5 finish of the season. Menard moves up one spot to 16th-place in the overall driver standings as a result.
