Detroit Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski sent shockwaves through the baseball world by dealing David Price to the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday, and now his focus has shifted to trading his closer.

The Tigers have dealt right-hander Joakim Soria to the Pittsburgh Pirates, the team announced.

Detroit will get minor-league shortstop/outfielder JaCoby Jones in return. The 23-year-old is the 12th-ranked prospect in the Pirates farm system according to MLB.com, and most recently played at the Double-A level. He hit 10 home runs and collected 58 RBIs in 93 games for Class-A Advanced Bradenton prior to his promotion.

Soria, who has converted 23-of-26 save opportunities, is set to become a free agent this fall. The veteran will likely slide into the setup role in Pittsburgh, which boasts a 2.71 team bullpen ERA led by closer Mark Melancon.

The 31-year-old hurler is making $7 million this season, and has a limited no-trade clause built into this contract. The Pirates were not one of the teams Soria could have vetoed a trade to.

Soria has a 2.85 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 43 games this year, and does have two forgettable playoff appearances on his resume. He was shelled for five earned runs on four hits across a pair of outings in last year's American League Division Series versus the Baltimore Orioles.
